'Tis the Season ...which for kitten availability means the middle
part of the year during the warmer months. Many people do not
realize that normally, mother cats do not deliver kittens in the
cold winter months. Every year this creates a high demand for
kittens in winter when none are available for adoption and an
imbalance in summer when there are too many kittens waiting for
homes.
Unfortunately, female cats that are not spayed can deliver several
litters each summer, so "Kitten Season" explodes every
year starting in late March and normally lasts into November,
with just a few late arrivals in December. So when searching for
that special new addition(s) to your household, adopt when there
is an abundance of kittens waiting for homes!
When Kitten Season ends every year, worn-out mother cats, tired
foster homes and exhausted shelter workers are relieved. However,
the end of Kitten Season also signals a good time for teenage
kittens and adult cats to finally find a "forever" home
of their own!
These older animals are often overlooked when competing for homes
with cute, cuddly baby kittens. So the winter months are a great
time for older animals to be adopted! Both playful teens and adult
animals have the extra advantage of identifiable personality traits
to make a good match with your situation and they are usually
calmer with better manners than a young, rambunctious kitten whose
high activity level may not be good for all homes.

So remember, every year during the warmer months, rescued kittens
are available in high numbers and the winter months are great
for giving a patiently?waiting adult animal a home. Whichever
season you choose to adopt, please see our website or visit our
adoption centers to see our wonderful rescued felines.
If you are planning to add a kitten(s) to your family within the
next few months, adopt now before Kitten Season ends for this
year!
