Town Cats has established a fund for Chris
Pruett's Taj Meow Animal Sanctuary which was completely destroyed
along with Chris' personal home and everything he owned when the
Santa Cruz mountain fire struck. Chris provided homes for and took
care of horses, dogs, cats to the tune of about 100 total animals
in his loving care. We now have taken in 6 burn victims, 1 mother
cat and 6 kittens from the fire. (We have also taken in 4 adults
who were ferals but were not burned and looked healthy, so we spayed/neutered,
vaccinated and went back with Chris - he thinks new disoriented
cats are showing up since they found the food/water.) All of the
rescued cats are starting to recover well. All the horses are fine,
but he lost 2 dogs and about 20 cats. He is busy trying to round
up all the animals and get up and running as soon as possible. Town
Cats is collecting donations of dog/cat dry/wet food; hay for the
horses; large troughs for water for the horses and dogs and smaller,
but large feeders/waterers for the cats and dogs dry and water.
We are also collecting monetary donations for the sanctuary as well
and you can pay any amount from our website paypal link or mail
to our PO Box 1828, MH, CA 95038 - just mark this is for the "Catman
Fire Fund". (Note: if Paypal won't let you say what the money
is intended for, send us a follow-up email at towncats@garlic.com
to let us know.)
He has an older Bronco which
costs $120 to fill the tank with gasoline for going up and down
the mountain for supplies, so money is appreciated too. And if you
would like to donate specifically to help the 5 burn victims in
Town Cats' care, please mark on your donation it's for the 5 cat
burn victims. Thank you very much for all your support, Chris has
given everything to the animals over the years and now he needs
our help.
A volunteer wrote a wonderful story
about Chris and his animals. Please follow the link below to read

Three of Chris's cats,
being treated for burn wounds.... See how nicely the bandages are
wrapped on the recovering kitty's feet! Many thanks to the volunteer
who has taken them in and is treating them....
