How Town Cats Can Help

If you have a litter of kittens, Town Cats can help you find homes for them.  Please contact us as soon as possible.

First, thank you for being willing to rescue these little guys.  We are happy to work with you to find these kittens a home.

Generally, Town Cats is not able to bring kittens into the shelter as kittens do not yet have a strong immune system.  The kittens we care for are placed in foster homes.  Unfortunately, we never have enough foster homes to care for the numbers of kittens who need help.  Therefore, we regularly ask those who have found kittens, or who are caring for kittens, to continue to serve as the foster home for the kittens while they grow and become ready for adoption.

What does it mean to be a foster home?:
  • The kittens will stay and live with you.
  • You will provide food/litter and other supplies for the kittens (Town Cats may be able to help provide some supplies as needed).
  • You would care for and socialize the kittens getting them ready for adoption.
  • When the kittens reach 8 weeks old or 2 lbs., you will take the kittens to be spayed/neutered and ONE kitten from the litter must be Combo tested (Town Cats will provide information on low cost spay/neuter options).
  • Once the kittens are spay/neutered, you will contact Town Cats to schedule your kitten(s) to come to an adoption fair.
  • Town Cats will then deworm and deflea (as needed) and microchip the kitten as well as create medical records for the kitten to be adopted.
  • You will continue to serve as the foster home and bring the kittens to adoption fairs until the kittens are adopted.

In addition, we would request that you provide Town Cats with digital photos and a written biography of the kittens that we will place on our website as "available soon."  This will allow people to reserve the kittens ahead of time.

If you are unable to serve as a foster home, we will do our best to find a foster home for the kittens.  We cannot guarantee if or when a foster home will become available.  We hope that you will continue to care for the kittens until an alternative is located.
