VALLEY LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAMS
(Updated August 16, 2007)
The feral cat program is available to all residents
of Santa Clara County, however residents of unincorporated county
along with participating cities Mountain View, Saratoga, Sunnyvale
and Milpitas pay a $10 co-payment, while residents of non-participating
cities pay a higher co-payment of $25 for same services. Proof
of residency is required. Please
encourage your City to participate!
- Feral/Wild Cats – Copayment includes
surgery, vaccinations and ear notch for identification purposes.
Please notify the clinic in advance to make arrangements for feral/wild
cats which must be safely contained in humane traps. For information
on places to obtain a trap for feral cats, see: http://www.towncats.org/feral/trap_rental.htm.
The programs below are open to all residents of Santa Clara County:
- Tame/Owned Cats – County pays first
$30 towards spay/neuter with reduced surgery rates.
- Dogs – County pays first $60 towards
spay/neuter with reduced surgery rates.
- Pit Bull Type Dogs - New Limited "FREE"
Spay/Neuter Program for all males and any female under 6 months,
County pays first $100 towards surger for females over 6 months.
Please note that additional fees may be charged if the cat
is in heat or pregnant. When deciding which clinic to use, ask
about their requirements and any possible extra fees. Please call
ahead for an appointment and bring tame cats in carriers.

Low-cost spay/neuter for tame and feral cats at San José
Animal Care Center, 2750 Monterey Road, San José, CA.
- Tame/Owned Cats – appointments required. Please call
408/361-6602 to make a reservation.
- Feral/Wild Cats – only accepted on certain days on a
“walk-in” basis. Appointments for feral cats are not
accepted at this time. Cats must be brought in between 7:30 and
8:30 am. Only truly feral (wild) cats qualify. Feral cats should
be safely contained in humane traps. Call or check the website
to find out the specific days.
- Kittens – must be at least 12 weeks of age
- Dogs – No dogs accepted for surgery at this time.
- Non-resident appointments accepted when space is available.
Proof of residency is required.
- Low-cost vaccinations & microchips also available to cats
that have surgery. Please ask for prices.
Tame or feral cats will be altered at the following rates:
$5.00 - males - For residents of San José, Cupertino, Los
Gatos, Milpitas or Saratoga
$10.00 - females - For residents of San José, Cupertino,
Los Gatos, Milpitas or Saratoga
$20.00 - males - For non-residents of San José, Cupertino,
Los Gatos, Milpitas or Saratoga
$30.00 - females - For non-residents of San José, Cupertino,
Los Gatos, Milpitas or Saratoga

Provides low-cost spay/neuter vouchers for cats and dogs at participating
veterinarians. Local non-profit group that raises money by having
garage sales and booths at local flea markets. They need donated
household goods, small furniture, jewelry, small appliances, books,
good used clothing or any other usable items that they can sell.
Donations are tax-deductible.
