Maddie’s Fund

Town Cats is pleased and very proud of our partnership with Maddie’s Fund. We participated in the national Maddie’s Fund Adoption Days of 2014, finding homes for 115 cats at no cost to the adoptive families – 34 more cats than we placed during last year’s Maddie’s Days! Thanks to Maddie’s generous funding for these adoptions, we are also anticipating a very lovely grant from Maddie’s Fund.

Maddie’s funded each participating organization $500 for every healthy adult dog or cat, $1,000 for every senior pet or a pet with a treatable health condition, and $2,000 for every adopted dog or cat who was both a senior and had a treatable health condition. Thanks so much to Maddie’s Fund for sponsoring this nationwide event for the fourth year, the largest free pet adoption event in the country.

Maddie’s Fund® is a family foundation which is funded by the founder of Workday and PeopleSoft, Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl. Maddie’s Fund is helping to create a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home. Go here to see an interview with Dave Duffield.

To achieve this goal, Maddie’s Fund is investing its resources in building community collaborations where animal welfare organizations come together to develop successful models of lifesaving; in veterinary colleges to help shelter medicine become part of the veterinary curriculum to train veterinarians to save the lives of sick and injured dogs and cats in animal shelters; and in the implementation of a national effort to promote accountability and transparency in animal shelter operations. Maddie’s Fund is named after the family’s beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed away in 1997.

Town Cats is pleased and more than a little proud of our partnership with Maddie’s Fund, and we want everyone to know it!

Town Cats of Morgan Hill is among the many fortunate recipients of funding from this amazing organization. We participated in the Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days of 2015, finding homes for 115 cats at no cost to the adoptive families, thanks to the good people at Maddie’s.

Those who are unfamiliar with Maddie’s Fund will be pleased to know that their mission is “To revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals.” Learn more about the many ways in which they support cats and dogs by visiting them online at www.maddiesfund.org.

Town Cats participated in Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days in 2015, the results will be in soon!

WeCare – Community Alliance to Reduce Euthanasia

The founding agencies are Palo Alto Animal Services, San Jose Animal Care and Services, Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority, Town Cats Rescue, Humane Society Silicon Valley and the County of Santa Clara Animal Care and Control. Last year the WeCare Alliance received the one million dollar Maddie’s Fund (www.maddiesfund.org) Lifesaving Award, and we are working hard to achieve an even more ambitious goal in the next two years.

Success will have been achieved when each healthy and/or treatable cat and dog entering any facility operated by an Alliance member, or any recognized rescue partner within the county, can be placed in a responsible and appropriate home and no dogs or cats are euthanized because of a lack of space or the passage of time.
