Town Cats adopters Kyle Carbone & Lynze Silfies shared with us how Holly has settled into their home since being adopted to them 2 months ago: "Since the day she got here, she has brought so much joy to our everyday lives. One Blind Cat’s Journey to His Furrever Home

Max is a beautiful young cat that was rescued by Town Cats in the fall of 2017. He was surrendered to a municipal shelter for euthanasia because of severe glaucoma. He was only 7 months old, but his condition was so extreme that it was diagnosed as incurable. We took him in, had his condition assessed and determined that removing both eyes was his best option for complete recovery and quality of life. He spent some time in the shelter getting accustomed to his new way of life, and we helped him adjust with lots of socialization and love. He quickly blossomed and was eventually adopted by a wonderful family that was prepared to help him in any way they could, so we knew he was in the right hands!…

Hoarding Cats Update!

In late 2017, we had taken in a group of cats rescued from a hoarding situation that left them malnourished, ill, and in need of socialization and care. They eventually recovered and blossomed into lovely and friendly cats, although some were left with lasting chronic health issues due to their exposure to hoarding and neglect. Adopter Sanhita Datta adopted two of those cats- Milky (formerly Mario) and Sheena in 2018. She gave us a wonderful update of their life since being adopted: "They are very happy. Milky does not have his upper canines (the vet could not tell us why) we found that out soon after we got him. Sheena of course has many lung issues. So we have kept them indoors. Sheena needed a lot of medical attention for her teeth. …

Lady Bunny’s New Home

When Lady Bunny first arrived at Town Cats at the end of last year, she hid under her blanket in fear and would not let anyone near her. It took weeks for her to even come out from underneath her blanket let alone be touched. We knew she was going to need some time, love, and attention to help her come out of her shell. We started with small gestures, pets, treats, and gentle speaking to get her comfortable with being in her new environment at the shelter. In January, she was adopted by a family who was aware of her shyness and was willing to work with her at her home to socialize her, however, she unfortunately was returned for lack of progress. Harvey Gets A Second Chance

Harvey came to Town Cats in October of 2019 when his owner contacted us because she could no longer keep him due to a sick family member. She had inquired through Animal Control, though they had recommended that they turn to us because they were unable to accept Harvey into their adoption program. Harvey was only 6 years old, but he did have a common behavioral issue: loud, frequent meowing due to underlying anxiety. He couldn't be returned to the shelter that he was originally adopted from because he actually came another country, Bangalore, India. Our Hoarding Cats Find Homes for the Holidays!

Hoarding is one of the worst forms of animal cruelty, affecting thousands of cats across the United States. Town Cats has a long history of assisting with hoarding cases and we recently stepped in to help with a local situation. A man in San Jose was keeping 40 cats in a deteriorated home until authorities were contacted and intervened. The house was in disastrous condition and authorities had to wear hazmat suits with breathing apparatus in order to enter and evaluate the scene. All of the cats found were in poor condition and most were extremely feral. Once animal control safely removed the cats, Town Cats immediately offered to help in any way possible. We eventually took in four of the cats needing medical care. These four cats were transported…
