Club Feral/Albert cleanup Completed

A big thank you to everyone who helped us say goodbye to our beloved Club Feral. Despite the hot weather and surprise hornet nests, our hardworking, energetic volunteers managed to clean up the entire property in only two days! A special shout out to Girl Scout Troop 61296 who carried us across the finish line during the hottest day of the weekend. Many fellow rescue groups also responded to our invitation to take whatever we no longer needed. We're happy that all those cages, shelves, equipment, and even cat-themed decorations will be put to good use. It's never easy to say goodbye but your camaraderie helped turn a difficult moment into a heartfelt one filled with good friends and warm memories. Thank you for an amazing weekend.

Orphan Kittens: How You Can Help

Kitten season typically runs from March to November. If you've found an orphan kitten, prompt action is required to save its life. However, please take a moment to decide if the kitten or litter you've located has truly been orphaned. Separating very young kittens from an attentive mother will often make things worse instead of better! WHERE'S MOM? The mother cat typically remains continuously with newborn kittens for the first few days after giving birth, but she may leave for short periods to hunt for food. Also, a mother cat will often pick up and move her litter to a new location as establishing a new nest is part of the cat's instinctual behavior to safeguard her young by not remaining in one place too long. April is Animal Prevention Cruelty Month because that’s when the ASPCA’s charter was signed back in 1866. The ASPCA’s brand color is orange, so it only makes sense to “go orange” to raise awareness and help promote cat and dog rescue. Of course we think everyone ought to be thinking about preventing cruelty to animals every month, but we’re also into raising awareness any way possible, so we’re going orange in April! Tribute to Daisy

Unfortunately we lost one of our longer term cat residents last week. Daisy lost her ongoing battle with kidney issues, and we had to say good bye to her. Rather than mourn her passing, we wanted to celebrate her life and share her story. Daisy came to us when Town Cats took on a local hoarding case a few years back. When she arrived she was very timid and not in the best health. After a whole lot of TLC and socializing she came out of her shell and began to blossom. She loved cuddling with her gal pal and partner in crime Miss Eartha Kitt. Feral Freedom Drivers Wanted!

Town Cats is in need of Feral Freedom Drivers! Will you chauffeur a feral cat on a one-way, road trip back home? Because they certainly can't drive themselves home! As a member of the Santa Clara County WECARE Coalition, a partnership between local city shelters, Town Cats provides transportation volunteers for the spay, neuter and return Feral Freedom Program operating out of the The San Jose Animal Care Center on Monterey Road. Community cats are driven back to their original location after they have been spayed/neutered at the shelter. They are also microchipped and vaccinated. The volunteer shifts run about 2-3 hours at a time and volunteer hours are flexible afternoons Tuesday to Saturday. Training and mentoring are provided.
