Home for the Holidays at Town Cats

Written by Jose Parra

Kitten season has slowed down, and the adoption rush has gotten calmed down. Post kitten season brings opportunities for cats, other than kittens, to receive the spotlight again. From adults to seniors, these kitty cats are often overlooked by the hype kittens generate during their season, now is the postseason push to get the other fellas the most attention to get them homes! Annually at Town Cats, we’ve hosted Home for the Holidays as an event to bring attention to our kitty cats while reducing their adoption fees to $25 to cats 6 months and older! The rush never stops! At Town Cats, we pride ourselves on rescuing cats of all backgrounds and afflictions; however, finding the right home for them is half of the battle for securing them a brighter future! At Town Cats, most of our oldest in seniority and residency are our Legacy Cats. These are kitty cats that have been here since our founding. The list of Legacy Cats has thankfully shrunken in the past, with Rose, Yoyo, Nadious, and Akira having gotten adopted over the years! With time and attention towards their personalities, they will eventually find a home with a dedicated owner with a clear understanding of their situation. The general adult population of kitty cats tends to be there as we take in shelter transfers and surrenders on a semi-consistent basis from the general public through appointments. These fellas eventually find a home if they arrive in good health and standing; however, if not, getting a cat up to date on medications and vaccines is the goal to set them onto their adoptive homes! Another important part of sending these fellas off to their homes is having them be as sociable as possible through many and many playdates with volunteer socializers who come in and allow these kitty cats to blossom into their real fuzzy selves! As a community, we can set these kitty cats for success in their new homes! If you or anyone you love and know are interested in adopting a cat, let them know of Home for the Holidays as you might make a cat very happy for the holidays!
