Hoarding Cats Update!

Hoarding Cats Update!

Happy Tails
In late 2017, we had taken in a group of cats rescued from a hoarding situation that left them malnourished, ill, and in need of socialization and care. They eventually recovered and blossomed into lovely and friendly cats, although some were left with lasting chronic health issues due to their exposure to hoarding and neglect. Adopter Sanhita Datta adopted two of those cats- Milky (formerly Mario) and Sheena in 2018. She gave us a wonderful update of their life since being adopted: "They are very happy.  Milky does not have his upper canines (the vet could not tell us why) we found that out soon after we got him.  Sheena of course has many lung issues.  So we have kept them indoors. Lady Bunny’s New Home

When Lady Bunny first arrived at Town Cats at the end of last year, she hid under her blanket in fear and would not let anyone near her. It took weeks for her to even come out from underneath her blanket let alone be touched. We knew she was going to need some time, love, and attention to help her come out of her shell. We started with small gestures, pets, treats, and gentle speaking to get her comfortable with being in her new environment at the shelter. In January, she was adopted by a family who was aware of her shyness and was willing to work with her at her home to socialize her, however, she unfortunately was returned for lack of progress. After 2 months of regimented Cat…

It was discovered that Jewels was intentionally injured by a person throwing bleach in her face. The bleach caused major damage to her eyes which eventually led to the removal of both her eyes. Luckily, Jewels and her four babies were rescued. When Jewels…

Cat Safety Tips for the Purrrfect Holiday Season!

Cat Blog Articles, Current "Mews", Holiday, News & Happenings
The holiday season should be one filled with love, happiness, and (hopefully!) worry-free days. When sharing the holidays with your fuzzy friend, knowing the ins-and-outs of cat safety can help you have a safe, healthy, and most enjoyable holiday with your cat. Thinking Of Sharing Your Meal? Think Again While it can be tempting to share some turkey with your fuzzy friends, it would be best if you ignored those watchful eyes. A cat's diet can be extremely sensitive. Just as is mentioned in Town Cats' Seasonal Safety Advocacy tips, "While a small piece of boneless, cooked turkey or a lick of pumpkin are probably ok, too much Thanksgiving food can cause stomach upset, diarrhea, or pancreatitis."
