Keeping Cats Cool in Summer As the temperature keeps climbing throughout the summertime, we must remain aware of our cats’ heat exposure and be proactive in providing ways to keep our cats comfortable and cool. While our felines are agile and dexterous enough to survive some environments on their own, as humans we should aspire to do everything we can to keep our cats safe from any sort of harm. In this article, we’ll go over how a cat regulates their own internal heat, common symptoms cats may experience while overheating, and various ways to provide cool areas for our felines to stay safe & cool in this summer. Jewels Incredible Journey HOME! If you recall, we had a beautiful blind female cat name Jewels that came to our shelter earlier this year hoping for her furrever home. This is how her story began: Jewels is a cat originally from Kuwait and was part of a mass rescue effort for cats which was spearheaded by our wonderful friends at Nine Lives Rescue in Redwood City, CA. A total of 50 cats were transported from Kuwait to Redwood City by airplane to start their journey in finding forever homes. As a helpless stray cat in Kuwait, Jewels was an amazing momma cat taking care of four small kittens. She fought daily through difficult circumstances to take care of her little ones. It was discovered that Jewels was intentionally injured by…

Summertime Parasites As June comes to a blissful end, the summer season begins and the world around us eagerly blossoms with flourishing life, exuberant colors, and pesky parasites. A TNR Story: How We Caught Our Cats By Gretchen Roberts This is a long tale of love at first sight. One late afternoon I was lounging on the deck of our house. I was gazing at the woodpile in the backyard when I saw a large calico cat making her way to the top of the pile. She sat down and started sunning herself in the late summer warmth. Then another movement drew my attention. A tiny gray tabby came out from under some of the logs and began a slow climb to the top of the pile to sit next to its mother. Immediately I said to my husband, “This is absolutely unacceptable!” I’ve always been a believer that cats don’t belong outside. Some cats may be successful…

Town Cats adopters Kyle Carbone & Lynze Silfies shared with us how Holly has settled into their home since being adopted to them 2 months ago: "Since the day she got here, she has brought so much joy to our everyday lives. She really enjoys working from home with Dad during the shelter in place and is always happy to greet us with the cutest little squeaks upon return from wherever we may have gone - even if it was just a 1 hour trip to the grocery store. When Mom & Dad cook dinner, she's usually right there behind us making sure we cook our meals to perfection accompanied by more squeaks. And anytime the TV is on and Mom & Dad are watching, she can be found within…
