Naomi Smalls Goes Home!

Naomi Smalls came to our shelter as a surrender in May when she was just 6 months old. Having moderate-severe Cerebellum Hypoplasia (CH), She cannot keep her balance and has trouble walking. CH is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum is smaller than usual or not completely developed, and it has been reported in many animal species. Naomi lived in a wonderful foster home where she was socialized and given the love and care that her needs require. She was adopted by a former volunteer who wanted to open her heart and home to a special needs cat. A TNR Story: How We Caught Our Cats By Gretchen Roberts This is a long tale of love at first sight. One late afternoon I was lounging on the deck of our house. I was gazing at the woodpile in the backyard when I saw a large calico cat making her way to the top of the pile. She sat down and started sunning herself in the late summer warmth. Hoarding Cats Update!

In late 2017, we had taken in a group of cats rescued from a hoarding situation that left them malnourished, ill, and in need of socialization and care. They eventually recovered and blossomed into lovely and friendly cats, although some were left with lasting chronic health issues due to their exposure to hoarding and neglect. Adopter Sanhita Datta adopted two of those cats- Milky (formerly Mario) and Sheena in 2018. She gave us a wonderful update of their life since being adopted: "They are very happy. Milky does not have his upper canines (the vet could not tell us why) we found that out soon after we got him. Sheena of course has many lung issues. So we have kept them indoors. Sheena needed a lot of medical attention for her teeth. …
