Naomi Smalls Goes Home!

Naomi Smalls came to our shelter as a surrender in May when she was just 6 months old. Having moderate-severe Cerebellum Hypoplasia (CH), She cannot keep her balance and has trouble walking.  CH is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum is smaller than usual or not completely developed, and it has been reported in many animal species. Naomi lived in a wonderful foster home where she was socialized and given the love and care that her needs require.  She was adopted by a former volunteer who wanted to open her heart and home to a special needs cat. Ensuring that her home was made safe for Naomi and doing extensive research to be able to provide her with the purrfect home, she is now happy and healthy in her…

A TNR Story: How We Caught Our Cats By Gretchen Roberts This is a long tale of love at first sight. One late afternoon I was lounging on the deck of our house. I was gazing at the woodpile in the backyard when I saw a large calico cat making her way to the top of the pile. She sat down and started sunning herself in the late summer warmth. Then another movement drew my attention. A tiny gray tabby came out from under some of the logs and began a slow climb to the top of the pile to sit next to its mother. Immediately I said to my husband, “This is absolutely unacceptable!” I’ve always been a believer that cats don’t belong outside. Some cats may be successful…

Town Cats adopters Kyle Carbone & Lynze Silfies shared with us how Holly has settled into their home since being adopted to them 2 months ago: "Since the day she got here, she has brought so much joy to our everyday lives. She really enjoys working from home with Dad during the shelter in place and is always happy to greet us with the cutest little squeaks upon return from wherever we may have gone - even if it was just a 1 hour trip to the grocery store. When Mom & Dad cook dinner, she's usually right there behind us making sure we cook our meals to perfection accompanied by more squeaks. And anytime the TV is on and Mom & Dad are watching, she can be found within…

Hoarding Cats Update!

Hoarding Cats Update!

Happy Tails
In late 2017, we had taken in a group of cats rescued from a hoarding situation that left them malnourished, ill, and in need of socialization and care. They eventually recovered and blossomed into lovely and friendly cats, although some were left with lasting chronic health issues due to their exposure to hoarding and neglect. Adopter Sanhita Datta adopted two of those cats- Milky (formerly Mario) and Sheena in 2018. She gave us a wonderful update of their life since being adopted: "They are very happy.  Milky does not have his upper canines (the vet could not tell us why) we found that out soon after we got him.  Sheena of course has many lung issues.  So we have kept them indoors. Sheena needed a lot of medical attention for her teeth. …

Casey Jones, a Story of True Love

Casey Jones, a Story of True Love

Cat Blog Articles, Happy Tails
Have you ever been caught in an impossible situation on your own with no hope in sight? Meet Casey Jones. He was in great pain. Cold. Starving. We know that Casey once had a home and people who loved him but he was lost and alone. He could not find his way back home. He was on his own trying to make it on the hard streets of San Jose but he was not doing too well. He was struggling to survive. He was slowly dying. Casey was a full-grown, adult, male cat, a Flame Point Siamese with beautiful, blue eyes and a glorious plume of a tail, but he was now painfully thin, weighing just 4.75 pounds, and he had a badly broken leg which dragged behind him.…
