The Wonderful Staff of Town Cats

The Wonderful Staff of Town Cats

Written By Jose Parra

For an organization to function effectively, each operational aspect of an organization must create an ensemble of productivity that leads to success. At Town Cats, we are fortunate to have an effective Board of Directors and the thousands of supporters we have gathered over the decades! The many different types of volunteers contribute their time and energy for the cats in our care, onto the off-site volunteers that foster our kitty cats and the ever-loyal transport volunteers. We could never do it without them, for which we are truly thankful. However, at the front lines of Town Cats stands our proud staff, who have always been able to adapt to the changing times and continue the humble care of our kitty cats!

Our clean care staff focuses their attention primarily on cleaning and caring for the cats in our care. At Town Cats, cleaning is straight forward but very routine based to achieve daily goals. These daily goals include cleaning at a moderate enough pace to have plenty of time to socialize with the kitty cats while also being available to assist any other staff member with their tasks to keep productivity rolling forward. Besides the obvious functions, a clean care staff member is also at the forefront of assessing a cat as both happy and healthy, as per the five animal freedoms. Our Animal Wellness Specialist/ Foster Coordinator works hands on to evaluate the kitty cats that come in as new residents, foster cats that require their checkups, and overall being proficient at evaluating in-house cats and prescribing the medical care. Aside from the on-site tasks, coordinating with fosters is part of the fun! When it’s time to adopt cats, we rely primarily on our Adoptions Coordinator to receive adoption forms from interested adopters and deciding if the fit works both for the adopter and the cat in mind. Every cat is unique; thus, every cat needs careful consideration when choosing their forever homes! While the staff coordinates to be self-sufficient, volunteers provide an extra layer of support to the team. The Volunteer and Events Coordinator is the chosen one to bring them all into the fold! Besides garnering volunteers from the community, they coordinate community events to keep us interwoven with the community and create well-needed exposure for our organization! At the top of our local helm is our Shelter Manager, who works hand in hand with the staff and volunteers to create the most influential work environment. But the fun doesn’t end there; the Shelter Manager works to maintain external sources integral to our feral freedom program and building relationships with the community. Overseeing the staff is our Executive Director, who puts all of the pieces together! They plan for the future while ensuring the present state of Town Cats is prepared and ready to lead us to our yearly goals discussed between the staff and the Board of Directors, and that’s to summarize it! It is a significant role to take on. Still, when utilized effectively, it delivers us past our goals onto greener pastures to ultimately improve our abilities to care and pamper the kitty cats in our care! This Giving Tuesday, December 1st, 2020, will give you the chance to be a part of our journey and donate to the Non-Profit Organization that is Town Cats of Morgan Hill, to put us on the path to keep towards our mission for decades to come!
