Our Adoption Process

At Town Cats, our mission is simple: find safe, loving, permanent homes for every cat and kitten! Too often, amazing animals end up back in shelters because the match wasn’t quite right. That’s why we take the time to make sure every adoption is a perfect fit for both you and your new feline friend!

How to Adopt

1. Complete an adoption application online.

2. One-on-one interview with a Town Cats representative.
• Interviews are by appointment only and require submitting an application in advance.

3. Meet-and-greet with the cat(s) you’re interested in.
• Official meet-and-greets are by appointment only and require submitting an application in advance.

4. Sign the adopter contract and pay the adoption fee
• Full payment must be completed before the cat leaves its current location.
No cat may go home until the payment is finalized.

5. Take your new cat home in your own carrier.

Where Does Your Adoption Fee Go?

Your adoption fee helps cover the essential medical care each cat receives before going home and supports the ongoing rescue and treatment of other cats in our care.

Every cat is spayed or neutered, brought up to date on vaccines, and placed on monthly flea prevention. We also provide testing and treatment for common illnesses such as upper respiratory infections, along with diagnostics like bloodwork, fecal testing, and x-rays when needed. Some cats require additional care, including surgery for injuries or congenital conditions.

The cost of this care often exceeds the adoption fee. By adopting, you are not only preparing your cat for a healthy start, but also helping us continue to say yes to the next cat who needs us.

 A Note on Adoption Fees

At Town Cats, our adoption fees cover only a portion of the true cost of care. Every cat receives necessary medical treatment, which may include exams, diagnostic testing, treatment for illness, or surgery for injuries or congenital conditions.

Before going home, each cat is spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly flea prevention. These essential services alone often exceed the adoption fee.

Adoption fees help offset these expenses, but community support makes it possible for us to provide the full level of care every cat deserves.
