Looking Back At Kitten Season 2020 Written By Town Cats   Every year at Town Cats, we encounter numerous cats and kittens needing our help. Especially in the spring and summer months, during what is referred to as “kitten season.” Kitten season begins when the weather warms up, and non-sterilized cats begin to reproduce. Many of these kittens are born outside and found by good samaritans. Typically, when a feral mom cat is around, her kittens will be left with her until they are old enough to be weaned. Once they’re not reliant on her for nourishment, the…

Home For The Holidays: Ginger Finds A Home Written by Nin Parker & Jose Parra In most animal shelter settings, there is that subset of the population that requires a tad bit more time to build a trusting bond. At Town Cats, aside from some of our newly arrived shy residents, we have our Legacy Cats who, aside from ever so friendly senior Christy, are some of our most difficult to place due to their undersocialized personalities. One of these Legacy Cats is Ginger who had been with us since before Rosi, our founder, passed away. Fortunately, there are saviors that alleviate the undersocialized population by being able to form a bond, where others deemed unfeasible. Sometimes a person has such an innocent personality that a cat can sense humility…

Sheet Day – Time To Play!

Sheet Day - Time To Play! By C. M. Saracco Sometimes, I wonder why it takes me so long to make the bed on Saturdays.  But one look at Little Lizzie, our 3-year-old rescue cat, and I have my answer. You see, Saturday is “sheet day” in our house — the day I change the bedsheets.  It’s also the day Lizzie likes to exercise her predatory instincts. As soon as I strip the bed, she jumps on it, wide-eyed and enthusiastic.  She braces herself for the unfurling of the fitted sheet, attacking each corner as I attempt to tuck it around the mattress. This can take several minutes, as adjusting the sheet with a 12-pound cat running across it is no quick task. Next, I slip the pillows into their…
