Volunteer with Town Cats!
Town Cats needs many hands (and paws!) to do all the important lifesaving work we do. We are always seeking committed, enthusiastic and reliable volunteers. The work Town Cats does is only limited by our volunteer resources. Whatever your interests are, they will go a long way at Town Cats!
The cats look forward to meeting you, and so do we!
Process to start Volunteering
- Register an account on GivePulse.com and join the Town Cats group
- Watch the online orientation video and take the quiz
- Schedule an in-person training session through GivePulse by sending a note to the group Admin.
*Note: Registration requests will be denied for clean care shifts if you have not completed an in-person training.
Minimum Age Requirements
We welcome High School students needing community service hours to apply! You can also fulfill your high school community service hours with Town Cats by setting up a fundraiser or donation drive on our behalf. Alternatively, you can create projects to make cat scratchers, toys or blankets.
Younger volunteers can also take on independent (at home) projects if they don’t have anyone who can accompany them to our shelter. For example, making no-sew blankets, distributing flyers, or organizing food drives. To sign up for a project, first register on the Volunteer Registration site, then let us know what you’d like to do by emailing volunteers@towncats.org.
Supervision Guidelines
- Minors under 18 must be directly supervised by an actively volunteering parent or legal guardian during their volunteer shift.
- We welcome younger volunteers with previous animal handling experience, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Every volunteer, regardless of age, must register individually on the Volunteer Registration site. Click the ‘Join’ button to start the registration process.
Parent/Guardian Consent
For all minors under 18, a signed parental/guardian consent form is required before volunteering. Parents or legal guardians must submit this form in person before their child’s first shift.
Volunteer roles:
Cat Care Volunteers:
Clean cages, scoop litter, feed cats, change bedding, and give them free time. Shifts are 1–2 hours.
Adoption Counselors:
Set up weekend adoption fairs and talk with potential adopters. Shifts are about 4 hours on Wednesdays or Sundays.
Photography Volunteers:
Take quality photos of cats for our website, social media, and flyers. Must have your own camera and visit adoption sites.
Event Support:
Assist at one-day events like fairs, festivals, and pop-up adoptions. Shifts are scheduled in advance.
Event Committee:
Help plan and support events on a project basis—logistics, décor, set-up, take-down, and auction/food/wine coordination.
Feline Transport Drivers:
Transport feral or adoptable cats between shelters, colonies, and appointments. Must have a valid license and car.
