Tribute to Daisy

Unfortunately we lost one of our longer term cat residents last week. Daisy lost her ongoing battle with kidney issues, and we had to say good bye to her. Rather than mourn her passing, we wanted to celebrate her life and share her story. Daisy came to us when Town Cats took on a local hoarding case a few years back. When she arrived she was very timid and not in the best health. After a whole lot of TLC and socializing she came out of her shell and began to blossom. She loved cuddling with her gal pal and partner in crime Miss Eartha Kitt. He is a lovely and adorable little boy who needs to be adopted with his sister Mazzy.[/caption] Snazzy, along with his two sisters, Mazzy and Jazzy, were days away from being euthanized before being pulled from a local shelter where they were surrendered, by Town Cats when they were 2 weeks old, still too young to eat on their own. Placed in special Foster Care where they were monitored and bottle fed around the clock every two to four hours for the next four to six weeks, and given lots of human contact and attention. Anindita adopted Ian from Town Cats ten years ago when he was six years old and renamed him Daku. He provided the family with many wonderful memories but sadly he passed away in July. His family loved him so dearly that they wanted to find a way to honor the joy that their beautiful boy Daku brought them. So, Anindita contacted us to let us know they wanted to pay for the adoption of the next senior kitty in memory of Daku. It was their way of paying forward the love that Daku shared with them the past ten years. He was a handsome man-cat and Town Cats would like to thank his family for opening up the opportunity for another kitty to find forever love. Rest in peace Daku. Because of their kindness…

Then in February 2014 I lost an aunt that was like my second mother. In April 2014 I had to have my 17 year old male dog put to sleep from an injury he received. Then came May and I lost my son who had a heat stroke and died at the age of 50. I was recovering from all these losses and headed into January 2015 and lost my husband who was my best friend. Ann Wondolowski to take leave of absence from board to help as Interim Executive Director

John Lipp has stepped down as our Interim Executive Director, he has received a great opportunity with another local nonprofit closer to home. We thank him for his help and support over the last few months and wish him luck in his new adventure. John will stay connected with Town Cats by helping with special projects for the board, his first area of focus is helping Town Cats to develop a fundraising plan. As we continue to evaluate the needs in leadership for Town Cats, Ann Wondolowski has agreed to take a leave of absence from the board to help as Interim Executive Director. Meet Carmelita Coleman

Carmelita has been helping cats all her life. “I just do it because I love to do it,” she says. People call her all the time with questions about cats. Carmelita is a cat resource for her friends, giving advice on trapping and fostering. For years, Carmelita ran a one-woman rescue, trapping cats, bottle-feeding kittens, getting the cats spayed/neutered, placing ads in the newspaper, and finding each one of them a good home. She says she would always charge a little bit to get decent people. Back in 2004, Carmelita and her husband moved to Morgan Hill from San Jose.
